We've been covering the next generation of Apple's AirPods for the upcoming spring 2021 release, and we've got a pretty close look and functionality to what we've been hearing about the new AirPods 3.
About the latest AirPods 3, which combines some of the features of both the AirPods 2 and the AirPods Pro with a handle that's slightly longer than the AirPods Pro, retaining pressure touch.The earphones are designed to be half-in-ear, but you can choose to use them with earplugs.
The AirPods 3 still have the same master chip as the Apple H1, possibly in a SIP package to maximize internal space.The AirPods 3 has similar hardware to the AirPods Pro, but it doesn't support active noise cancellation, and other than that, it doesn't have much of a difference in functionality.
The charging case is similar in design to the AirPods Pro case, but smaller in size, with a charging indicator on the front and wireless charging capability.
Besides the smaller size, the AirPods 3 don't support active noise cancellation or adaptive balancing, and the battery life statistics are probably the same as the AirPods 2: the headphones are fully charged and the battery life is about five hours of continuous music playing, and the battery life with the charging case is about 24 hours.
On the inside of the AirPods 3 charging case, the charging contact at the bottom of the ear handle is still powered by a metal tail plug, which is connected to the charging case by a metal shrapnel.
Above all, the AirPods 3 could be a transitional product that combines the compact size of the AirPods 2 with the features of the AirPods Pro, with a half-in-ear design that can be used with earplugs, which providing the option to consumers.
